Use this paper to suggest that there may be genetic differences which cause some people to be more susceptible to the effects of certain types of carbohydrate, in particular HFCS. While the paper does not address this matter directly, it does imply that genetic variations may have an important role in Body Composition for individuals. While there is no shortage of opinion regarding the role genetics may play in the likelihood of a given person becoming OW/OB, there is little literature that suggests there may be people who are susceptible to the effects of certain types of nutrient and carbohydrate, and that these people - in a world of high energy-dense foodstuffs increasingly containing HFCS - may be prone to obesity as a disease, as someone else may be susceptible to Meningitis, chest or ear infections, or Crohn's disease, for example.
