Template

(Author Surname, Year Published)

Example

Abe's reference to history was very brief in length and vague in substance, a clear retreat even from his statement about "comfort women" that he made during a joint press conference with President Barack Obama, Tuesday.

All he said was: "Post war, we started out on our path bearing in mind the feelings of deep remorse over the war. Our actions brought suffering to people in Asian countries. We must not avert our eyes from that. I will uphold the views expressed by the previous prime ministers in this regard."

"Deep remorse over the war" or "our actions" is connotative at best and evasive at worst in relation to the terrible war crimes and atrocities that Imperial Japan committed before and during World War II. (Kim, 2015)
